Eulogio Albalat was born in the bosom of a family of
deep-rooted musical and artistic tradition (La Coruña.
1960), initiating the musical studies to the age of five
years in the discipline of the Piano under the
guardianship of his father, Antonio Buján. Later he will
begin the career of Guitar -always with the maximum
qualifications- in the Conservatoire of Santiago de
Compostela with the Teacher Jose Sanluis Rey (former
pupil of Andrés Segovia), later to end in Madrid with
the Professor Jose Luis Rodrigo, with whom he will
extend his knowledge on the Spanish Music of the S. The
XXth and the Guitar in general.
He was a scholarship holder for the Autonomous
Government of Galicia and moves to London to perfect his
technique and musical knowledge with the guitarist David
Russell, and enters in addition in direct contact with
centers as the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the
Royal Academy of Music, London College of Music or
Trinity College of Music managing to penetrate into the
pedagogic systems applied to the musical educations.
Fruit of his stay in the above
mentioned City is the relation with personalities of the
world of the Guitar, as Hector Quine or Nigel North.
He realizes courses of technical and musical development
with David Russell, John Williams and Manuel Barrueco
among others.
Since as soloist he operates so much of form as
accompanying singers, forming groups of chamber music or
also with orchestras.
In La Coruña he has acted in numerous cycles of concerts
organized by the Town Hall as they are "Nights in the
Old City", "The First Cycle of Young Musicians", “The
Second Cycle of Young Musicians". Likewise intervenes in
the "The First Cycle of Guitar at Luis Seoane Room
Theatre" and he acted in the Provincial Museum in
repeated occasions.
There has offered concerts in the whole Spanish
Geography so much in rooms of prestige, as the
Foundation Juan March (several different cycles), as in
numerous conservatoires.
He has intervened as soloist with orchestra in audiences
of Madrid and Galicia, releasing concerts for Guitar and
Orchestras specially dedicated him for Galician
composers of contemporary language.
He has given recitals as soloist in France, Italy,
England, Norway, Greece, etc.
With the "Group 21ST CENTURY" releases the "Concert for
Guitar and Small Orchestra" (Room of Chamber of the
Conference Hall of La Coruña) * "Campus Stellae" of
Manuel Mosquera. (Recording in Classic Radio).
With the Group ** "Talea" - of which he was a founding
member - put on * "Suggestions to an empty structure" of
Jorge Berdullas del Rio in his First Edition for Guitar,
Percussion, Flute and Bass.
** Talea is an Instrumental free Group of floating staff
formed originally in the eighties for the
accomplishment, molded and instrumental execution of
Galician Contemporary Music.
In his organizing facet to mention the formation and
development of the "Galician Association of Guitar" -of
the one that was the President- with other musicians and
guitarists of renown, to develop platforms of actions
(performances) in Galicia in which to generate concerts,
courses and conferences of the Spanish Guitar. Fruit of
this Association they were Cycles of Concerts with
participants of several nationalities and diverse acts
with the collaboration of the Conservatoire of La
Coruña.
He has a CD recorded with the stamp FonoMusic CD-1490
(SGAE M-9773-2001) "Concerto for the Galician Soloists"
in the one that records - with Fernando Arias as The
Director -the first concert for Guitar and Orchestra
composed in Galicia for a Galician musician: * "Concerto
for Guitar and Orchestra ", of Enrique Iglesias.
In 1992 he releases the work ** "Big Fantasy, Wedge and
Final" of Federico Moretti. This work appears in a
particular collection in the surroundings of Corunna
-fruit of Xoan Manuel Carreira’s investigation- in a
summary of works of the epoch called “Fernando Torres
Adalid’s Guitar Book". This work, for order of the
musicologist before mentioned, is released throughout
the world by Eulogio Albalat, to the being, and I
mention textual words of the guitarist and musicologist
Carles Trepat -probably- the unique copy that remains of
this work.
He forms a part of the Juror of the "Young Contest of
Guitar Cesar Aira", organized by the Cacabelos's Town
Hall and supported by the Patronage for the defense of
the Historical Artistic Patrimony.
At present, he reconciles his labor in the concerts with
the pedagogic one being a teacher of the Teachers' Body
of Music and Scenic Arts (Madrid 1988) having been
employed for four years at the Conservatoire of La Rioja
and with current destination in the High Conservatoire
of La Coruña recovering the condition of High Professor
of LOGSE from October, 2001.
From this pedagogic facet there arise numerous workshops
of specialization that he gives every year in diverse
conservatoires -so much to Galician as national level-
for guitarists of all the levels.
In the Season 2005 - 2006 realizes a tour of concerts in
the anniversary of L. Boccherini interpreting with the
"Ensemble Shostakovich" - formed by the soloists of the
Symphonic Orchestra of Galicia - the Quintets for Guitar
and Quartet of Strings of this author, "The Ritirata",
"Quintet of the Fandango", etc) acting in the principal
Galician cities.
Among his projects of future, the recording of a CD is
with works of Manuel Ponce and Moreno Torroba, and other
one with “Four Concerts for Guitar and Orchestra” of
Galician composers.
From the Month of 2005 July he is the Director of the
High Conservatoire of La Coruña for Contest of Merits.
